Agrometeorology

Our Agrometeorological Services are provided under the Meteorological Division of the Department of Water Resources of Gambia. The services offer critical weather and climate-related information tailored to support agricultural activities in the country. Through close monitoring rainfall, temperature, and other environmental conditions, the service delivers timely bulletins to help farmers and decision-makers manage risks and maximize productivity. Key products include a Dekadal (10-day) Early Warning Bulletin for Food Security and Seasonal Rainfall Forecast. These products are essential in guiding farming activities like sowing, fertilization, and irrigation, while also offering insights into potential threats such as pest and diseases outbreaks and extreme weather events. The ultimate goal is to improve food security and agricultural resilience in The Gambia by providing actionable information that enables stakeholders to adapt to changing climatic conditions effectively.
